Let me introduce myself. My name is Penny Trapp, and I started in the sign and graphics industry in 2008. I hold a Certificate III in Signage and a Certificate III in Printing & Graphic Arts (Printing).
I love this industry; being able to look around and see the work you have done on the businesses in the area is a real thrill.
In my 11 years in a sign shop, which I managed in rural Queensland, Australia, at times we just needed help in designing and preparing artwork for production to keep the production and installation teams moving. Sometimes it was just for a day or a week to fill in for staff being away or just securing a large contract.
Thus began the concept of "A Signie On-Call", a qualified signwriter you can call on when you need them.
I started doing some work on weekends in 2015 as a service to help a signage company owned by friends, which they in turn told their friends who were also in the sign business. The demand showed that this service would be a valuable asset to many small sign businesses.
I suffered a back injury (in mid 2019) and can no longer do the physical installation work... But I can use my design skills and experience to help you and your business. With this in mind, I have opened my knowledge base and talents to support other sign businesses like yourself.
Over the last decade, I have worked the full spectrum of the client's signage process, from the first contact to site surveys, preparing estimates and product choices for the client, getting a design brief, then onto design (original ideas or from the client), proofing, and editing. Next was preparing the files for production, for both vinyl cut and wide format digital print (produced in-house) or outsourcing for router/laser cut and acrylic fabrication. I was the lead installer and production manager for many years (until I trained an apprentice who is now qualified). Having the experience of the full process gives me the unique ability to know what elements of a design can make an installation a breeze or a headache.
Having an extensive background in business branding and marketing gives me the ability to make your clients' projects shine among their competitors. I can even help your clients set up professional email and website services through Bee Smart Domains.
